Talking Turkey
President Erdogans new job as dictator for life started today.

He just gave the crucial finance minister job to his son in law.

Goodbye, modern Turkey.

Re: Talking Turkey
I have watched the whole election on Tv it has been as corrupt as fuck, the whole media bar a few channels are all Erdogans and they openly call the opposition party's traitors.
I doubt whether a chimpanzee could have done a worst job than RTE in trying to get votes he looked old and babbled about there being no fridges or cookers in Turkey till he came to power in 2002? he literally said this several times. The man was talking about making a better Turkey as if he were not the one in power for 16 years.
Basically the man is lying through his teeth about how strong Turkey has become under his leadership and he has so many dogs without morals who will lick and slurp at his every word and wish he pays false economists and supposed political analysts to big him up and belittle the opposition, he stole this election there are millions of votes from Kurdish areas that have gone directly to a Turkish nationalist party MHP who are in coalition with Erdogan which is a bit like English Brexiters voting for a much much stronger European union it makes no fucking sense at all, the votes in the same places for that party were almost 0 last year.
Erdogan wants to be Putin and Turkeys Economy is on the floor he has spunked half the money on lucrative palaces and big pointless showy projects and the other half has gone missing (Stolen) the opposition partys have been asking for 5 years for some proof to where all the money has gone but they get called traitors for asking and it's all closed down and nothing can be done.
Had Erdogan lost he would have been in prison for hundreds of years for a start before the thieving comes the screwing up of the Turkish constitution.
The sad truth is that this man can always get 46% of the vote cos Turks think with him leading they can fuck the world one day and be a strong as they once were in the Ottoman day's yep Turks are that dumb, old Tayyip has all of a sudden done a 180 degree turn and become a Turkish Nationalist, of course on his own terms not one who respects the Republic or its founder Ataturk. Erdogan once said I have nationalism under my feet it has no power, he was doing deals with Kurds back then but now he has changed not in his heart though he will revert if he can back to being what he used to be if he could, although sadly for him 11% of his coalition are with the MHP (Turkish Nationalists) who he detested two years ago and they can scupper his big ideas, although sadly they are probably just stooges who money can buy easily why would they even contemplate getting into bed with an obvious hater of the Republic.
Turkey is fucked no one even Erdogan knows what the fuck this new system is about, apart from it gives him more powers and makes him stronger his Economy is fucked Petrol diesel is the most expensive in the world, food prices are on par with England in fact its higher and the pay is about quarter to half of what Brits make.
Turkey will be starving soon from lack of funds and then it will go to the IMF, Erdogan will get the begging bowl out then we will see how he keeps his support and if there are protests on the streets because starvation could be close Turkey was one of the few self sufficient countrys Erdogan stopped that and now Turkey buys everything into the country from outside, prices of things like onions and potato's Toms that Turkey used to produce with ease have gone through the roof.
Erdogan is going to blame the west and evil outside dark powers for Turkeys drop in living standards and he has 46% who will blindly believe him, it is all down to the rest of them, they are swallowing all the shit he can throw at them I give it two more years then something I believe is sadly going to explode, a civil war is a real possibility.
Sadly Erdogans biggest supporter is the West they helped to put him in and they do not give a shit about the people of Turkey as long as they can make some money and as long as Erdogan holds the 4 million Syrians at bay.

Corrupt, totalitarian and undemocratic. Sounds like the ideal preparation for joining the EU.

Hammer & Pickle

I absolutely hate political Islam, Ataturk had it absolutely right when he urged his people to look to the west, sadly though Turkey never truly got to grips with democracy and the proof is in what we see today, Just look at Erdogans biggest fans Somalia and Pakistan, need I say more?.

Imagine having the Army Police force and almost every civil servant in your pocket or at least feeling threatened that if a new party comes in to power they will do things fairly and you may lose your job which your shit at anyway and only got for being a mindless arse kisser to Erdogan???.

So I ask you how is it possible to have a fair election when the army/Police force are moving around the votes and all the vote counters have been vetted by Erdogans party???.

When the Americans admit Genocide of the Native Indians

When the British admit Genocide of Indians and the Irish

When the French admit Genocide of the Algerians

Then I will admit Genocide of the Armenians by the ottoman Turks.
And the Brits Americans and French were not being attacked on all sides mercilessly in a first world war like the Turks were either.

Willtell 9:14 Tue Jul 10
Re: Talking Turkey
Except Britain never committed genocide to Indians or Irish.

Both countries endured famines that Britain did little to help correct but genocide "is the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular nation or ethnic group."

That never happened. Incompetent? Maybe. Couldn't care less? Maybe but not genocide Hairy.

Agree generally but their were massacres in India and on smaller scale in Ireland that went beyond incompetence or indifference.

Same as in the States, with the Natives.

But as you say, there was no overarching concerted effort.

But I tried arguing this with Hairy before as well other otherwise liberal Turkish people and facts seem not to enter into it.

"How did those tasty fowl ever end up with the same name"

Same way "Indian" just got used on here for people native to North America. People were ignorant back in the day.

It was a foreign bird and somebody thought it came from Turkey, called it a Turkey hen first. In French, it came from India - d[']inde.
